Advanced Geoscience Research Letters is a fully open-access journal. All content is made freely available to readers worldwide immediately upon publication, with no subscription or paywall of any kind.
All research articles, review articles, and primary content in AGRL are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0) licence. Under this licence, readers are free to share and adapt published material for any purpose, including commercial use, provided they give appropriate credit to the original authors, indicate any changes made, and do not suggest that the authors endorse them or their use.
Authors retain copyright in their work. The CC-BY 4.0 licence is the default and only licence available for primary research content in AGRL. We do not offer more restrictive licensing options (CC-BY-NC, CC-BY-ND) for research articles, in line with our commitment to maximum openness.
Publication in AGRL is funded by an Article Processing Charge (APC) levied upon formal acceptance of a manuscript. The APC covers the costs of peer-review management, professional copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, long-term archiving, and worldwide open-access dissemination.
APCs are invoiced only upon formal acceptance; no charge is made for manuscripts that are rejected at any stage, including after peer review.
AGRL is committed to ensuring that research quality — not financial circumstance — determines publication decisions. Full APC waivers are available to corresponding authors based at institutions in countries classified as low-income or lower-middle-income by the World Bank. Partial waivers are considered on a case-by-case basis for authors in upper-middle-income economies who can demonstrate financial hardship. See Open Access Funding for eligibility criteria and how to apply.
Nexus Research Press has established transformative agreements with a growing number of research-intensive institutions and national consortia, allowing affiliated authors to publish in AGRL without paying an APC at the point of acceptance. Authors should check with their institutional library whether a current agreement is in place before submitting.
Commentary, Correspondence, News & Views, Research Briefings, Book Reviews, and editorial content are published free of charge to authors. These content types are not eligible for open-access publication under the CC-BY licence; they are made available to institutional subscribers and may be made open access at the editors' discretion for content of particular public interest.
